New Cisco Network Fabric Reins in the Internet of Everything

Activities Cisco is about making connections. No wonder , then, that the company that is already connecting networks with routers and switches, and people through unified communications technologies being developed to connect the rest of the planet .

Late last month, Cisco introduced its new network convergence system ( NCS ) , a hardware platform designed to deal with the billions of devices that should be operational in the next 10 years. This is an ongoing event ( phenomenon , actually) that the company has defined the Internet for everything.

World Network reports that the NCS is not so much a router as a family in mesh fabric designed to raise core routers Cisco CRS and ASR 9000 edge router centrally distributed architectures . The system acts as a " central nervous system " which combines service provider IP and optical networks with automation networks in dynamic tissue and central Cisco Unified Computing System data .

The programmable system (API onePK ) is powered by the new network of processors integrated Cisco nPower X1 , which incorporates 4 billion transistors on a single chip.

Cisco says that the programming features of the NCS and virtualization enable service providers to accelerate the transition to software-defined networking and virtualization capabilities of the network.

Speaking on the fabric with the Global Network , Ray Mota , founder of ACG Research , said that " all the benefits and advantages as to why customers wanted a fabric in the data center, the next logical step is to extend the WAN WAN fabric that is capable of virtualization platform to the south and north API for network programming . "

The three members of the family include Cisco tissue NCS 6000, NCS 4000 and 2000 , which can be deployed and managed individually or as an integrated system . Shipping today, the 6000 NCS is the first line card 1 Tbps . E ' can take up to 5 Tbps per slot and 1.2 for PBP system to support converged IP and optical environment .

Because the first half of 2014, the NCS 4000 will support 400 Gbps per slot and 6.4 terabits per system. It will be available in , back- to-back , multi - single chassis and supports optical transport networks , Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing ( DWDM ) , Synchronous Optical Network and Ethernet applications .

Finally, the NCS 2000 , shipping today connects DWDM transport networks at a rate of 100 Gbps and beyond and supports dynamically configurable network -capable channel multiplexer 96 .

" The Cisco NCS is designed with programming ability , intelligence and scalability to meet the needs of today and tomorrow " , senior vice president and general manager, Service Provider Cisco Networking Group . " The NCS provides a programmable network evolved that enable service providers to generate new revenue streams and business models , while offering new experiences for their customers . "
